The 2025 Annual Meeting of Central Council was held March 22-23 in Iqaluit. Central Council is comprised of the Territorial Executive (NTA President, NTA Vice-President, NTA Inuit Member-at-Large, and the NTA Secretary Treasurer), and the six Regional Executives.
There was debate of resolutions and regional executives presented concerns and perspectives from each region. The examination (revision, reflection, and submission of resolutions) of NTA bylaw and policy is crucial to the health of the Association. Reports from special and standing committees demonstrated the crucial role of committee work (all driven by Members). The Professional Development team highlighted the quality teacher-driven professional development happening throughout the Territory. The Executive Director’s report provided an update on organizational strengths, relationships with national and regional affiliates, and labour relations and professional trends. The NTA President’s report (as well as the reports shared by each regional president) provided an in-depth analysis of the themes and concerns from across the Territory.
