Joey Rhodes, NTA Vice President, Inuksuk High School, Iqaluit NU

My wife and I have lived in Iqaluit since 2002.  Our children were born and raised in Nunavut and have enjoyed school and their life in the North.  I have been involved with the NTA since the days of the Federation of Nunavut Teachers (FNT) as I was an Local receiving Officer (LRO) when I first came to Inuksuk High School.  I have sat on many different committees  with many other members from around the territory over the years and have been lucky to gain a lot of experience and insight into the “how’s and why’s” of the decision-making process of both the Department of Education and our own Association.  I have enjoyed serving on the Professional Development Council and look forward to continue representing our members and their needs at the PDC table.

Scott MacDonald, NTA Secretary Treasurer, Joamie Elementary School, Iqaluit NU

Aside from serving in various roles with NTA, I am currently the Vice-Principal at Joamie Elementary School in Iqaluit where I have been since 2017. Prior to moving to Iqaluit I began teaching at Nasivvik High School in Pond Inlet in 2010. I feel privileged to represent the NTA on the PDC as I view quality professional development as a gateway for teachers to become more effective educators, which helps our students become better learners. During my time in Nunavut I have taken advantage of many of the professional learning opportunities the PDC has to offer, and I hope my work with the PDC assists you in doing the same.
