Greetings Colleagues,
The Canadian Teachers’ Federation and its member organizations, including the NTA, are calling on all educators in Canada to participate in a National Day of Action, Teach for a Better World.
In the past year we have seen a consistent attack on public education funding and teachers across the country. Students and teachers in Ontario are fighting against massive cutbacks and staff reductions. Our colleagues and their pupils in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Alberta are facing governments who are refusing to properly fund public education in their provinces. In many parts of the country, public education is being undermined and devalued by provincial governments and private corporations who look to profit off of our students.
On Friday February 28th all teachers, parents, and community members across Canada are encouraged participate in a Walk In for Public Education. Walk into the school wearing red and displaying the Teaching for a Better World and NTA logos from our website. Show pride in the amazing work we do with our students every day. Let the provincial and territorial governments know that public education needs to be better funded and protected from corporate greed.
Use the hashtags #RedForEd and #EnsemblePourAgir to participate in and witness the social media campaign that will be taking place across Canada on February 28th.
In Solidarity,
John Fanjoy
President,
